Dear Friends,
The last stop of my
vacation was in Madrid visiting my son, Ladislao.
I spent my time with
my grandson, so there was little time left in sightseeing.
And as things are in
Venezuela, I could not help feeling that there was going to be rough time in
getting currency and plane tickets next year.
But the weather was
good so I had a great time.

Thank
You Sir Nigel, and I would like to say to Sir Ladislao, Sir Don & Sir Jon.
we have a motion.
Sir
Kazim, we have Nigel's List, which will only be a guide, to your list of this
impossible mission.
Hopefully
with the help of the few day boys, who are in the Club, will be able to support
you with class years and names, class photos is good way to start.
But
most of these fellas would be under 50 - 55? yrs old.
Maybe
from 1973 -1985 ?
So, we
have to be careful, we have the Old School and we now we have the kids also ha!
ha!,
So
this is why, this project is really for the Young Lions to have their space,
should this mission go well, then we will be able to see our future, 20
years from now.
We will
monitor what material Sir Ladislao & Sir Don get for the Circulars, and is viewed
on the Blog.
Sir
Kazim, this is experimental, the two groups will not be in contact for awhile,
of course those who earn their dues, will be invited, to other selected circles
of our group, as time goes on.
Just
another log in the fire, keep that fire burning, thank you for your time.
Cheers, Mis Amigos –
Adios Glen.

Dear
Sirs,
Sir
Rudy, Sir Shaun & Sir Henry,
I
think we should head up a Day Boys Connection in Trinidad & Abroad,
The
reason why, many are so much younger than the old core of our group,
I
think this would be an asset in time, and represent the vast amount of past students
that live in & out of Trinidad.
You
know our standards, we seek the best of the best in our connections.
Hoping
to draw only those that share, the same as we do about The Abbey School
Alumni.
Maybe
a suggestion to Sir Kazim, a page in face book, just for Day Boys, from all the
years, where they can share what we are sharing right now.
As
brothers connect with brothers from their time, days and knights, many more
relationships will be rekindled.
Just a
dream, just an idea as time goes on.
Best
Regards, My Brothers -
Long
Live Our Mount - Adios
Glen.

Just
thought that you should that Derek Chadee is an Abbey Boy.
He was
there from 1975 to 1981.
And most
importantly, he was a day boy!

Franco
Maconi,
Is
about 60 yo now, no one knew what became of him after he left The Abbey, but
rumors has it that they moved to Barbados, they owned a restaurant in POS, was
the first Italian.
His
parents drove a Morris Mini and we all had fun watching them getting in this
small car.
Franco
was a bully, but he could not run fast, so we use to tease him and run.
He
hung out with another bully, Pegus. It
was part of growing up tough, so I hold no ill feeling towards any of them.

Hola,
Amigos -
Yes, I
remembered Franco Marconi from 69 or 70.
Yeah,
he was short & fat, a bully to the younger boys and sucked up to the older
ones, he was a goalie also.
Anyhow,
how could I forget him, one day he was suppose to give sweet drinks to us, and
I grab one and ran, he caught meh and kick meh in the face, ah thought ah was
dead, he had a black belt in karate, anyhow I was o.k. knight of steal, but ah
did cry ha! ha! we the younger ones would pick on him.
That
restaurant is where someone was killed, believed by the mafia.
A bit
after or before that he left.
All
the guys from 69/ 70 would remember well.
Hope
this answer your question.
Yes he
was a Mount boy, and there are many out there, the good, the bad, the ugly, and
then the day boys, ha! ha!
Our
Club knows these differences, and only remains in contact with those who have
chosen to walk in the light.
Cheers, Mis Amigos, Adios. Glen.

Hola,
Andres and everybody: Giacomo Tomaselli?
Yeah,
... although I don´t remember the name of the Mount boy involved, but I do
remember his face and the incident quite well in the late 60´s.
He was
a bit older than me.
It was
this mount boy (along with others in his family) who all went adrift in the
high seas while taking a boat or yacht from T&T to Grenada due to some kind
of engine trouble (?),.. and yes, they did drift for many days (or perhaps week
(s)? ) in the Caribbean while drifting westward with the tradewinds until they
were rescued deep inside Venezuelan waters.
After
recuperating, he returned to the Mount, still with a severely sunburned face
and with marks of peeled off skin all over.
In due
time he recovered and all went back to normal.
I
remember the boy´s face well, (at least as he looked back then) but,
unfortunately, not his name, since he wasn´t my friend directly, as he was
older than me (and in a class ahead) therefore not in my social circle in
school..
I
remember when he returned finally to the Mount, we all wanted him to tell his
story, but he was still in shock and didn´t really want to give details about
the incident.
I
remember him as a nice, easy-going, "no trouble", kind of guy.
I
wonder if this story has come full circle now?
A
harrowing story,... to say the least ...

Giacomo
Tomaselli?
Were
you the one who was on a yacht or motorboat that went adrift in 1970 between
Trinidad and Grenada and the Yucatan current swept you dehydrated and
sun-scorched over to Los Roques where the Venezuelan air force and or navy (I
don´t exactly remember which) sighted and rescued you about a week later?

Subject: A Tour of Trinidad's Market
The
fruits, vegetables and “ground provisions” look really healthy and fresh. The
Trinidadian markets are really a sight to behold.
In the
markets of Port of Spain and Marabella, ingredients from Europe, Africa, and
the Indian subcontinent come together on vendor tables. Cilantro here is known
as shadow benny or chadon benni -- a corruption of the French chardon benit or
"blessed thistle."
It is
a part of the green seasoning that is a Trinidad and Tobago culinary basic.
Chef
Debra Sardinha-Metivier of DSM Creative Cuisine and Chef Khalid Mohammed give
us our first look at the diversity of the Trinidadian market basket.
