MSB in 1947 well that is incorrect
I arrived on the 22nd of April 1945 and left on 12th Dec 1949

I have seen a few, it may also be their grandsons, but I do see
and hear of some of names below,

Hi Again Glen,
Thanks for your response to my enquiry - nice of David to
reply to you, however I already knew from past correspondence concerning the
same matter that it was in fact David that had attacked me on the first day as
a boarder all of those years ago in 1944, and I don't of course hold
anything against him for it - we were very young children at the time - and
anyway I am oddly enough rather grateful to him in a way for the happening
inasmuch as I had been such a mollycoddled young boy at the time - a real
little Lord Fauntleroy and the slapping up did me a lot of good as I had never
before ever had anyone even say a rude word to me much less raise their hand to
me, so his attack had the very desirable effect of bringing to the surface
another inherently and rather fierce side to my nature that up until that point
of time I never knew that I had, and as a consequence since that point of time
I have always been ready, willing, and able to defend myself, actually adopting
the view that "attack is the best form of defence" and as a
consequence even at this great age I tend to deal with confrontation pretty
promptly indeed.
What still intrigues me however is who in fact was it that
had written perhaps to Ladislao recalling the event to us and suggesting that
it was in fact David de Castro, as I am fascinated to know just who else could
have recalled such an obscure event. I think that I recall having Trevor Evelyn
write in saying that it was not him as he did not attend as a boarder until
1947 if I memory serves me right.
Just by way of mention, Although I will remark that
although I read all of the circulars that come my way I never seem to hear
anything about any of the lads that go back to my time such as; Alain Devaux,
John and David Maingot, the Farfans, Lawrence Macaulay, Leary and John
O'connor, Peter Gafney, the Meckdessie brothers Raymond and Joseph, David's
older brother Delano, Etc.
Thanks for going to the trouble that you have and are going to
over my little inquiry.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing, of our Dear Brother, Sir
Jardin Thomas.
I was told he was the 1st boy scout on the mount. I would
like to say, we had a good start, for many great scouts,
Came after this leader of the pack. We tried to make
contact with him over the few years, however he was ill for some time, and we
were unable to speak to him I wish I could tell you more, but I would
have to leave this to Sir Arthur Knaggs and those who knew him well, may send
us a few words on this Great Master, Knight & Gentleman.
May God Bless our Brother, our hearts go out to his family.

I never knew Tommy, but of course, I’d heard about him since I
was a boy at MSB.
He’s in a much better place now, thank God, and we’ll see him
again some day.

Arthur's good school buddy...from Mt. St. Benedict, Tommy Jardim,
passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11th. Another old boy with the Good
Lord! We just came back from the visitation and his wife Joan, and his
six daughters were in good spirits as they know he was at peace.

Art Knaggs my good friend and neighbour here in Halifax, Nova
Scotia gave me a copy of # 71 yesterday.
Nostalgic memories of 2nd Mt. St. Benedict scouting by Nigel.
Thought I could help with identifying faces in the photos.
I've a box - tucked away somewhere - with scouting photos
ripped-off from the dark room. Caura camps, PTA basketball court,
displays, plays – Swan Lake; others I'd be delighted to share - probably 12 -
24 in all.
This is great stuff, put me on your mailing list and forward back
issues if you can.

Hi Neil,
Thanks for your email and enquiry. I spoke with Stephen's
(estranged) wife this morning and am now waiting for her to pass on my email
address and tel # to Stephen so he can contact me. We have a few things to
discuss and then I'll ask for the details that are important to the Abbey Old
Boys (his years at MSB and his current contact info plus whatever stories he
may have after leaving MSB).
I met Stephen only once because his family lived in San Fernando
and I lived in POS. His brother, Wayne, was my best friend at Trinity College
in Maraval and he mentioned Stephen sometimes so that I have only bits of info
about Stephen. Wayne and I were the same age and Stephen was 2 or 3 years
younger, not more than that, and attended MSB, so therefore, by extrapolation,
he must have been at MSB from 1967/68 to 1972/73, and he must be 52 or 53 years
old now. I may be wrong about his age, but I can't be far wrong. Wayne died in
an unfortunate car accident in 1975, so I couldn't phone him up to ask.
I couldn't help but notice that the MSB old boys have much
stronger bonds than we Trinity old boys and I surmise it might be due to you
boys boarding there and spending lots more time together than we day boys. Did
you also spend holidays visiting one another's homes? I recognised some MSB names
- David Pampellonne who sold Bultaco motorbikes and Bel Ray oil; Jean de
Meillac who manages a radio station; Robert Huggins (if he has an amputated arm
and did karate); Christian Gurley who owns Book Specialists, Nigel Boos of the
Harriman Boos, etc.

reply to you in Neil's email !
I've been searching for Stephen for over 8 mths, first, calling
all the Pitchers in Trinidad, then looking on Facebook, then Canada White
Pages, and People Finder, so you can imagine how happy I am that you guys found
him in just one night, less than 24 hrs. I had had the impression that
Stephen's mother came from mid-west Canada because Wayne knew the wheat states
so well in Geography and I had assumed he would have migrated to the part of
Canada where he probably had family. I wouldn't have looked for him among the
Pitchers in the Toronto area. As Glen says, you guys have mojo. Now, how about
the winning lottery numbers for this weekend?? :)
